The City of Missoula's Community Planning team oversees land use planning to ensure the city grows in a way that reflects community values and aligns with the City Council's long-term vision. Through tools like the Land Use Plan and Place Types Map, we develop and implement plans, policies, and zoning codes that address challenges such as housing affordability, equity, and climate change while fostering sustainable growth.

The team works collaboratively with residents, business owners, elected officials, and local organizations to guide Missoula's development. While the city focuses on planning within its limits, Missoula County oversees planning and development for areas outside the city. Together, we’re committed to building a vibrant and inclusive future for the entire community.
