Northside Pedestrian Bridge Project Update
May 2024 update: The City of Missoula's Northside Pedestrian Bridge renovation project remains on schedule for a July opening. The project is within budget, and key components like concrete, railings, lighting, and site work will be progressing over the next few months. - The concrete pouring for the new ramps will be finished by mid-May. Handrail replacement and repair of damaged barrier fences are currently underway.
- Work on the bridge's N. 1st Street W. frontage and the adjoining pocket park is expected to begin in mid-May. This includes demolishing and replacing the stairs, sidewalks, and curbs and removing the concrete pads in the park.
- Electricians will install new wiring and lights on the ramps and decks of both bridge towers. Painters have started treating the new steel and will then repaint the handrails, barrier fences, and the interior and exterior of the bridge structure.
- The painting, electrical work, and site construction are expected to take approximately 90 days to complete, weather permitting.
- If you have questions about the project, contact David Selvage, Associate Director, Park Systems & Services, 406-552-6252, selvaged@ci.missoula.mt.us.
