1. I can't see meeting videos. Do I need a special video player?

Meeting videos play using Microsoft Silverlight. In order to view meeting videos, we recommend using Internet Explorer with a Microsoft Silverlight plug-in. You can download and install Microsoft Silverlight for free.

Folks used to be able to play videos in Google Chrome, however they will no longer play because Google has discontinued support for Microsoft Silverlight. Download Silverlight

2. The board whose meeting I want to watch isn't listed.

The City is implementing this new technology in stages. Initial roll out includes City Council, Council committees, Planning Board, Community Forum and Design Review Board. Additional boards will be added at a later date.

3. What are MP3s and MP4s?

These files provide a way to download the meeting audio or video onto your computer or mobile device and listen or watch the meeting offline.

The links to MP3s are the audio recordings of the meetings. This is a common format used by many MP3 players like iPODs, Zune, etc. You can right click on the link, save the file on your computer, load it onto your MP3 player, and listen to the meeting on the go.

MP4 files are the video files of the meeting. If you have a device that can play videos like a computer or iPAD, you can download the video (following the instructions above for MP3 files), save it on your device and play it.

4. How do I find out more about an agenda item?

Click the "History" link next to the agenda item. You will see search results with all the meeting videos, agendas, videos, other documents, votes taken associated with it.

5. How do I search meetings for information?

Enter key words in the search box, check the meeting types you want to search, select a date range, if you wish, and press the search button.

6. How do I share documents and video on my Facebook, Twitter, etc.?

Open the meeting you want to share, select an agenda item and click on the share button on the right. The system will generate a link you can copy, embed or allow you to e-mail the information.

Yes. Meetings are broadcast on MCAT and are available to cable subscribers on Channel 190.
