Mission

The Human Resources Department provides consultation and support to current, future and past staff. The Department helps create a safe and healthy work environment encouraging personal and professional growth and opportunity while meeting the City's mission in serving the residents of Missoula. In addition, it is our mission to be excellent stewards of the resources and funds we have been entrusted with not only to be fiscally responsible, but also to ensure sustainability of the City’s investments.  

Vision

The City of Missoula Human Resources Department cultivates a welcoming environment for all staff to understand the services provided and seek trustworthy information to build professional and personal successes throughout their career with the City. The Department is a strategic partner working to ensure the goals and mission of the City are met while protecting the organization's greatest asset, the people, through effective risk management practices.

SENIOR HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST

With over two years of HR experience and 12 years of non-profit leadership experience Amelia has worked domestically and internationally with a diverse range of individuals and communities. She received her BA in Criminal Justice from Auburn University and her MBA with a Human Resource Management concentration from Nova Southeastern University, she is also a Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP). Amelia is deeply committed to HR which is evident in her work for those she serves. Amelia brings a passion for collaborating with others to create a productive and healthy workplace where employees and managers thrive. When not at work, she spends most of her free time trying to keep up with her daughter as they go on adventures and explore new places! 

Duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Support the Departments of Police, Public Works & Mobility, Mayor, Parking Commission, Attorney’s Office, and Court with the following:
    • Manage employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
    • Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
    • Assist with the interactive process for accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
    • Assist with labor relations to include interpretation and compliance with Collective Bargaining Agreements.
    • Review policies and practices to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws regulations and recommended best practices.
    • Manage FMLA and ADA requests.
    • Perform investigations.
  • Serve as the City Wellness Coordinator
  • Manage various special projects related to personnel management.
